Nut Loaf

Ingredients
3/4 cup sugar  2 Tbsp. shortening 
1 egg, well beaten  1-1/2 cups milk 
1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour  1-1/2 cups white flour 
3-1/2 tsp. baking powder  1-1/2 tsp. slat 
1/2 cup chopped nuts   


Directions
Mix the sugar, shortening, and beaten egg.
Stir in the milk.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to liquid mixture.
Add in the nuts and stir only until they are well blended.
Pour batter into a well greased loaf pan.
Back at 350° for 70 minutes.
Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
