Manhattan Clam Chowder

The Recipe
1/4 lb. salt pork 
5 c. hot water 
1/2 c. onions, chopped 
1/4 c. celery, chopped 
1 1/2 Tbsp. thyme 
1/2 tsp . pepper 
#2 1/2 can tomatoes 
1 1/2 c. diced carrots 
1 c. ground clams 
2 tsp. parsley flakes 

Dice and pan fry salt pork till crisp.
Add water and remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil and simmer 1 hour uncovered.
Add ground Pismo Clams and 2 tsp. parsley flakes.
Simmer 10 minutes more.
