Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
1 1/2 C. sugar
1 C. margarine**
2 eggs
3 TBS. sweet cream, sour cream, or milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. imitation butter flavor or butter extract**
2 1/2 C. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
granulated or decorating sugar for finishing before baking
 
** I am going to make a wild guess that if you use butter instead of margarine you can eliminate the butter flavoring.


Directions
Preheat oven to 400°.
Cream sugar and shortening (margarine or butter).
Add eggs one at a time.
Add vanilla, butter flavoring (if you are using it), and cream (or sour cream or milk).
Add dry ingredients. (Although the recipe doesn't mention it, it is always a good idea to mix the dry ingredients before adding to the wet.)
Drop by teaspoon full on a "cooky" sheet. (I usually line mine with parchment paper.)
Flatten each cookie with a glass dipped in sugar.
Bake 6 - 9 minutes; watch carefully!
