Filling:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 TBS. melted butter
1 TBS. flour
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Batter:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs - separated
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
grated peel of 1 lemon and 1 orange
1/2 cup milk

Mix together filling ingredients and set aside. For batter, begin by sifting together the flour, salt and baking powder. Set aside. Cream butter, add sugar, add yolks. Mix in flour mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. Pour 4/5 into a greased 9 x 9 pan. Sprinkle filling over batter, then top with remaining batter. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes.
