1/2 box raisins
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. cloves
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. water
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. soda

Boil together and cool the sugar and raisins.
When cool, add the remaining ingredients.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) about 20 minutes.
This is good with or without Confectioner's sugar icing.
