Nut Loaf

Savor the hearty goodness of this old-fashioned Nut Loaf that combines the nutty richness of whole wheat flour with a generous portion of chopped nuts. This wholesome quick bread features a tender crumb and satisfying texture, perfect for toasting or enjoying with a smear of butter. Simple pantry ingredients come together in this versatile loaf that works equally well as a breakfast option or teatime treat.
No Jump Zone
Ingredients
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1-1/2 cups milk
1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1-1/2 cups white flour
3-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. slat
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions
Mix the sugar, shortening, and beaten egg.
Stir in the milk.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to liquid mixture.
Add in the nuts and stir only until they are well blended.
Pour batter into a well greased loaf pan.
Back at 350° for 70 minutes.
Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
Servings\Yield
Makes 1 large loaf or 2 small loaves. Serves 12-16 slices
