Drop Dumplings for Beef Stew

These simple dumplings cook directly on the stew's surface, absorbing rich flavors while remaining light and tender. Ingredients
1 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
about 1/2 cup milk

Directions
Sift together the dry ingredients.
Stir in milk, slowly, until batter is thin enough to take up by rounded spoonfuls with a wet tablespoon.
Bring the stew to a boiling point.
Liquid on top of the stew should be shallow enough so that the dumplings can rest on top of the meat and vegetables.
Drop spponfuls of the batter on the top of the stew.
Cook uncovered for 10 minutes.
Cover and continue cooking for another 10 minutes.
