Ingredients
1 box white cake mix, prepared or not, unclear which. See Uncle Dave says...
2 #303 cans of red tart cherries, with juice, about 4 cups total.
1 cup sugar
3/4 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. red food coloring
2 Tbsp. corn starch
2 Tbsp. melted butter.

Directions
Spread cake batter into a greased 9 x 13 pan.
Mix together the remaining ingredients.
Pour the cherry mixture evenly over the top of the batter.
Bake to 350° for 50 to 60 minutes.
Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.

At first I thought this was a 1960s version of a dump cake.
But I am not sure. For one thing, this one puts the cake part down first, and then the fruit part.
And this doesn't make clear if you are supposed to make up the cake batter and then dump it into the pan, or if you are to put it in dry like a dump cake.
