Ingredients
1 cup butter and olive oil combined. Your choice for the amount of each.
1.5 tsp. salt (reduce this next time)
1.5 tsp. pepper
1.5 tsp. garlic powder (increase this to 2)
1.5 tsp. cumin (increase this to 2)
add other seasonings
8 cups diced bread 1" cubes
Directions
preheat oven to 300° F
melt butter
mix in olive oil and other seasonings
spread bread in a single layer on sheet pans
drizzle on mixture
use your hands to stir the bread cubes around on the cookie sheet to get all of the liquid absorbed and spread evenly
place in oven for 10 minutes
pull them out and check to see how brown the bottoms are. If they are brown, turn croutons over
continue cooking the croutons until they are brown and both sides
at this point I usually will pull them out and lower the oven to 170° F
once the oven has cooled, put the trays of croutons back in and turn off the oven
leave the croutons in for several hours or overnight; leave the oven light on if you have one
