Ingredients
8 - 10 oz leftover pastries, bread, cookies, fortune cookies, or whatever bready things you have
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup golden raisins
1/2 - 3/4 cups brown sugar (amount will depend on how sweet your source bread is)
2 tbsp apricot preserves or apple marmalade
3/4 cup orange juice or apple juice
1 pear
1 apple
Dollop of sour cream or crème fraiche
Directions
Tear your source bread, pastries, etc. into small pieces and put in a bowl with the cinnamon, raisins, sugar, preserves, and juice.
Mix well and let it soak.
Core and peel the apple and the pear and cut into 1/2" to 1" chunks, and add to bowl.
Mix well.
This is where you can stop and wait until the next day, or at least a few hours later, for the bread to soften.
Pour into an oven safe dish.
Place in a preheated 400°F (205°C) oven for 45 minutes.
When finished, wait about 15 minutes and serve with a dollop of sour cream or crème fraiche.
