Raisin Oatmeal Cookies

Classic Raisin Oatmeal Cookies that deliver the perfect balance of chewy texture and homey flavor. These old-fashioned treats feature plump raisins, hearty oatmeal, and a hint of cinnamon for that nostalgic cookie jar appeal. The simple preparation yields soft, medium-sized cookies with golden edges and tender centers. Makes about 3 dozen—perfect for lunchboxes, after-school snacks, or enjoying with a glass of milk. A timeless recipe that never disappoints!

Ingredients
1 c. seedless raisins
1/2 c. shortening or oleo
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c. milk
1 2/3 c. oatmeal (quick rolled oats)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon

NOTE: Oleo is margarine, which you should never use. Just use butter.

Directions
Wash raisins in hot water and let drain.
Cream shortening with sugar, then add beaten eggs and milk.
Combine with oatmeal and raisins and mix well.
Add flour sifted with soda, salt and cinnamon.
Beat thoroughly.
Drop onto greased pans and bake about 12 minutes in a moderate oven (350 to 375°).
Servings\Yield
Makes about 3 dozen soft medium sized cookies.
